Cairo:The Ministry of Agriculture spokesman, Khaled Gad, announced that the ministry has successfully utilized modern technology and digital transformation to register agricultural holdings and monitor encroachments through satellite imagery.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Gad highlighted these efforts during a phone-in with Egypt's Channel One. He stated that the ministry has made significant strides in recent months in identifying and removing fictitious and inaccurate agricultural holdings across the country to ensure subsidies reach their intended beneficiaries.

The ministry is in the process of issuing and activating smart cards, while also mapping agricultural land areas to assign each plot a unique national identification number. This initiative aims to create an integrated database of agricultural holdings and ensure accurate registration of land data.

Gad noted that approximately 8 million feddans have been incorporated into the electronic agricultural-holding system nationwide. This system allows for protection and monitoring through satellite technology and supports the agricultural land governance system, digital farms for exports, and other applications.

Additionally, the ministry has developed electronic applications that provide farmers with advisory services on agriculture. These include recommendations on proper fertilization, pesticide use, and other practices to improve production and increase the efficiency of agricultural operations.
