Cairo: The 244th humanitarian aid convoy, titled "Zad al Ezza... From Egypt to Gaza," began entering the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the Rafah terminal, heading toward the Karam Abu Salem Crossing in preparation for delivery into the enclave.

According to State Information Service Egypt, an official source stated that the convoy's trucks are carrying large quantities of humanitarian relief supplies. These include food items, food parcels, flour, fresh bread, legumes, canned goods, medicines, personal care supplies, tents, clothing, and petroleum products. The source noted that the trucks are subject to inspection by the Israeli authorities before being allowed to enter Gaza.

Israeli authorities had previously closed the crossings linking the Gaza Strip on March 2, 2025, following the end of the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement and the failure to reach a deal extending the truce. On March 18, 2025, Israel resumed intensive airstrikes and renewed ground operations in several areas of the enclave from which its forces had previously withdrawn. In addition, the Israeli authorities barred the entry of humanitarian aid, fuel, and shelter supplies for displaced Palestinians and refused to allow heavy equipment needed for rubble removal and reconstruction.

The delivery of humanitarian aid resumed in May 2025 under a mechanism implemented by the Israeli authorities in cooperation with a US security company, despite objections from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). The agency argued that the mechanism did not comply with the established international framework for aid distribution. The Israeli military later announced a 10-hour temporary humanitarian pause on Sunday, July 27, 2025, suspending military operations in designated areas of the Gaza Strip to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian assistance.
