Gaza: The 265th humanitarian aid truck convoy, known as 'Zad Al-Ezza.. From Egypt to Gaza,' began entering the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, to deliver aid to Palestinians. The convoy passed through the auxiliary gate of the Rafah Border Crossing, heading toward the Karem Abu Salem crossing in preparation for its entry into the Strip.According to State Information Service Egypt, the convoy's trucks are transporting large quantities of food and relief supplies, which include food items and baskets, flour, fresh bread, legumes, canned food, medicines, personal care supplies, tents, clothing, and fuel. The trucks are subject to inspection by Israeli officials before being allowed entry into the Strip.The Israeli occupation forces had previously closed the crossings linking the Gaza Strip on March 2, 2025, following the end of the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement and the subsequent failure to consolidate the truce. The ceasefire was breached on March 18, 2025, with heavy airstrikes, fol lowed by renewed ground incursions into various areas of the Gaza Strip.In light of the conflict, Israeli occupation troops had barred the entry of humanitarian aid trucks, fuel, and shelter supplies for displaced people, and refused to allow heavy equipment necessary for clearing rubble and supporting reconstruction efforts into the Strip. However, the entry of aid into Gaza resumed in May 2025 under a mechanism implemented by the occupation authorities and a US security company, despite objections from the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).Israeli forces announced a 'temporary humanitarian pause' on July 27, 2025, lasting 10 hours, suspending military operations in parts of the Gaza Strip to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid. Mediators Egypt, Qatar, and the US worked tirelessly to secure a comprehensive ceasefire agreement, which led to an accord between Hamas and Israel on October 9, 2025.The second phase of this agreement began on February 2, 2026, following the com pletion of the exchange of prisoners and detainees. This arrangement allowed Palestinians to enter the Gaza Strip and facilitated the transfer of injured Palestinians to Egyptian hospitals for treatment after the reopening of the Palestinian side of the Rafah Border Crossing.
