Cairo: The Ministry of Tourism has issued a warning after discovering a fraudulent website selling tickets to the Grand Egyptian Museum. The museum administration acted swiftly to address the issue upon learning about the scam.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the ministry took all necessary legal steps, involving the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority and other relevant authorities, which led to the shutdown of the unauthorized website.

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Mr. Sherif Fathy, emphasized the growing importance of accuracy in an era of rapid technological advancement. He advised internet users to verify the authenticity of websites before engaging in any transactions or sharing personal information.

Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the Grand Egyptian Museum Authority, confirmed that the only official and authorized website for purchasing museum tickets is visit-gem.com. He stressed that no other websites have been accredited for ticket sales or booking services.

The museum urged both Egyptian and international visitors to use the official platform for accurate information and secure bookings. They also warned against using any unofficial websites, as these are fraudulent and unassociated with the museum.

The museum administration will continue monitoring the internet for unauthorized websites claiming affiliation with the museum and will take legal action to shut them down.
