Cairo:Suez Canal Economic Zone: The Head of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), Moustafa Sheikhoun, met with Eric Gaudiosi, the Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Cairo, to explore ways to enhance economic and investment cooperation.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting, held on September 30, 2026, focused on identifying investment opportunities within the zone and expanding cooperation with the US business community. Discussions included potential collaboration in water desalination, solar and renewable energy, pharmaceutical industries, information technology, training centers, and the development of ports and logistics zones.
Sheikhoun highlighted SCZONE's diverse investment opportunities, which include industrial zones, ports, and logistics areas. He emphasized the authority's commitment to leveraging advanced technologies and expertise in areas of mutual interest, aiming to develop services and logistics facilities that support high-quality projects.
He also mentioned that the authority is eager to turn cooperation with the US business community into actionable initiatives based on specific investment opportunities and sectoral needs. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of streamlining procedures to enhance the investment climate and encourage new projects within SCZONE.
Gaudiosi expressed the US's interest in bolstering economic and investment ties with SCZONE, noting the significance of continued dialogue and view exchanges to bolster partnerships. He recognized the meeting as a pivotal step in fostering communication and coordination, with the US keen on exploring further cooperation areas that serve mutual interests and boost US investment in the zone.
