Egyptian Red Crescent Dispatches Humanitarian Aid to Gaza

Cairo:The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) has launched its 287th 'Zad Al-Ezza From Egypt to Gaza' aid convoy, delivering over 2,231 tons of humanitarian supplies to the Gaza Strip. This effort is part of ERC's ongoing commitment as the national coordinator for Palestinian aid.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the latest convoy includes over 967 tons of food baskets and flour, more than 611 tons of relief supplies and medical equipment, and over 654 tons of petroleum products essential for operating hospitals and other critical facilities in Gaza.

Since the onset of the crisis, the Egyptian Red Crescent has maintained a continuous presence at the border, ensuring that the Rafah crossing remains open on the Egyptian side. Supported by more than 75,000 volunteers, the ERC has been actively working at logistical centers to deliver much-needed aid.

The blockade on crossings into Gaza by Israeli forces began on March 2, 2025, after the initial phase of a ceasefire agreement concluded without a consolidated agreement. The situation escalated with airstrikes on March 18, 2025, leading to renewed ground incursions and the prevention of humanitarian aid, fuel, and necessary reconstruction materials from entering Gaza.

Efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States to mediate a ceasefire culminated in an agreement on October 9, 2025, between Hamas and Israel under US President Donald Trump's plan. The second phase of this agreement, effective February 2, 2026, enabled the movement of Palestinians and injured individuals across the Rafah Border Crossing for treatment in Egyptian hospitals.
