Cairo: Minister of Transport Kamel El-Wazir emphasized the critical importance of expanding the Suez Canal Ports Development Company's projects during a meeting held on Monday, September 14, 2026. The meeting, attended by Suez Canal Authority Chairman Lt. Gen. Osama Rabie, underscored the need for comprehensive development in seaports, focusing on the management, operation, and maintenance of cargo and container terminals both within and outside Egypt.

According to State Information Service Egypt, El-Wazir highlighted the necessity for the company to adhere to project timelines due to their strategic role in enhancing Egypt's transportation infrastructure. He called for a more significant involvement of the company in maritime, road, and rail transport activities to boost Egypt's regional and international competitiveness in the global trade sector.

The meeting approved various financial documents, including the company's financial position, final accounts, and budget for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2025. The Central Auditing Organization's reports were also sanctioned. Mohamed Farag, the company's Chairman and Managing Director, delivered an extensive annual performance report detailing the company's activities, board decisions, and contractual agreements.

Farag's report covered national projects such as dredging and land reclamation efforts at El-Mex Port, behind the eastern breakwater at Damietta Port, and the construction of a cement plant at Arish Seaport. Additionally, it included the development of a railway line between Ferdan and Taba, and the construction of a logistics terminal in Adabiya.

Projects in the pipeline also feature the building of a significant marine berth and reclamation works for the Tahya Misr 2 Terminal and Taba Seaport, essential components of the Arish-Taba logistics corridor. This corridor is vital to global trade, with further plans for dredging and reclamation for a ship repair area and construction on Damietta Port's western breakwater.
