Transport Minister Emphasizes Role of Private Sector in Transport Projects

Cairo: Transport Minister Kamel El Wazir underscored the significance of enhancing collaboration with the private sector in executing transport projects during a meeting held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. This statement was made at the ordinary general assembly of MOT for Investment and Development, where financial outcomes for the fiscal year ending in December 2025 were reviewed.

According to State Information Service Egypt, El Wazir commended the positive financial results achieved, noting their contribution in alleviating the financial load on the state budget. He highlighted the necessity to further boost advertising revenues and evolve investment systems within all entities of the transport ministry to elevate the private sector's involvement.

El Wazir also emphasized the importance of strategic growth and effective use of human resources to ensure ongoing revenue enhancement and business development. MOT Chairman Essam El Kholy reported that revenues for 2025 reached 3.7 billion pounds, marking a significant 95% rise from 1.9 billion pounds in 2024, spurred by successful advertising and asset management strategies.

The meeting reviewed several strategic projects, such as the Happy Land Towers in Mansoura, part of the Tahya Misr Mansoura initiative, aimed at promoting urban development and increasing asset value. El Kholy also discussed logistics and commercial projects as essential elements for diversifying income and boosting financial sustainability. The results highlighted the company's instrumental role in maximizing investment across entities affiliated with the ministry to bolster state resources.
