Suez Canal Authority and Thailand Discuss Maritime and Tourism Cooperation

Ismailia: Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Chairman Osama Rabie met with Thai Ambassador to Cairo Thanawat Sirikul to explore avenues for enhanced cooperation in maritime services, port operations, and tourism. This meeting marks Sirikul's first since assuming his post and focused on expanding joint efforts in several areas.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions concentrated on areas such as fuel supply, crew exchange, ship repair, and technology transfer. Rabie outlined the SCA's strategy to diversify revenue streams by adding new logistics and marine services that support global trade passing through the canal.

Ambassador Sirikul expressed Thailand's interest in strengthening cooperation in port management and maritime tourism, highlighting the Suez Canal's strategic position and its potential to increase tourist flows between the two countries. He also acknowledged Egypt's efforts in addressing regional challenges and emphasized the importance of restoring stability to ensure the resilience of global supply chains.

Both parties agreed to establish a joint working group to translate their discussions into actionable cooperation, signaling a commitment to future collaboration.
