Cairo: Minister of State for Military Production Salah Suleiman Gomblatt met with CEO of Thales Egypt Sherif Barakat and Director of the Land Forces and Air Defense Sector at Thales Egypt Chebel Sabbagh to review progress in ongoing joint cooperation projects, particularly in the fields of electronic industries and wireless communications.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting, held at the ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, also tackled mechanisms for transferring military satellite communications technology to Benha Electronics Company (Factory 144), as part of efforts to boost bilateral cooperation.
Gomblatt stated that the meeting falls within the framework of closely following up on the implementation of joint projects, especially in advanced electronics and wireless communications, while exploring prospects for localizing satellite-based military communications technology within the military production sector.
The discussions also covered the latest developments regarding the establishment of a joint venture, "Thales Benha," which is expected to serve as a key supply chain hub for the French Thales Group, enabling the manufacturing of electronic equipment and systems in Egypt.
The two sides further reviewed cooperation in transferring fire-control systems technology for various weapons platforms within the military production framework.
For his part, Barakat highlighted Egypt's strategic regional location, noting that it enhances opportunities for building a strong export-oriented partnership in wireless communications targeting neighboring and friendly countries. He reaffirmed Thales' commitment to expanding cooperation with the Ministry of Military Production, citing its extensive technical expertise, advanced manufacturing capabilities and highly skilled workforce.
