Sports Minister Applauds Hana Gouda’s Historic Entry into World Cup Quarter-Finals


Cairo: Minister of Youth and Sports, Gawhar Nabil, extended his congratulations to Egyptian table tennis player Hana Gouda on her remarkable qualification for the quarterfinals of the World Table Tennis Championships. This achievement marks a significant milestone for Egypt in the realm of international sports.



According to State Information Service Egypt, during a phone call, the Minister lauded Hana’s exceptional performance and encouraged her to continue her efforts to secure further accomplishments for the nation. Gawhar voiced his confidence in Hana’s capabilities, emphasizing the importance of her achievement for Egyptian sports, both on a national and international level.



The Minister expressed gratitude towards the President of the Egyptian Table Tennis Federation, Major General Ashraf Helmy, as well as the national team’s coaching staff, for their unwavering support in helping Hana reach this milestone. He acknowledged the collective effort that contributed to this significant success for Egyptian sports.



Hana Gouda’s historic journey to the quarterfinals was cemented following her victory against France’s Gian Nan Yuan, who is ranked 24th in the world. Hana secured her place with a 4-3 win in sets during the round of 16 at the Women’s World Cup held in Macau, China. This victory not only highlights her talent but also positions her as the first Egyptian, Arab, and African player to advance to this stage in the Women’s World Table Tennis Championships.
