South sinai: South Sinai Governor Khaled Mubarak honored the governorate’s athletes for their achievements at the Border Governorates Olympics, held in New Valley governorate in February 2026. The ceremony took place in Sharm El-Sheikh and was attended by officials from the Youth and Sports Directorate, the executive apparatus, and the athletes’ families.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Mubarak expressed pride in the achievements of South Sinai’s athletes, noting their high rankings across multiple sports. He said their success reflects the sustained efforts to promote sports, discover talents, and nurture them within the governorate.

The awards recognized athletes as well as technical and administrative teams who secured first, second, and third places in a range of events, including swimming, karate, volleyball, athletics, beach soccer, table tennis, speedball, and other individual and team competitions. The governor stressed that the state places great importance on youth and sports, in line with directives from the political leadership, viewing young people as a cornerstone for the country’s future.

He reaffirmed the province’s commitment to supporting all sporting activities and providing the necessary resources to enable athletes to achieve further successes and elevate South Sinai’s profile in national sports. Director-General of the Youth and Sports Directorate in South Sinai Mohamed Fathy Tawfiq praised the governor’s continuous support for sports and athletes, noting that the ceremony serves as a strong motivation for competitors to maintain excellence in upcoming tournaments.

Governor Mubarak concluded the event by taking commemorative photos with athletes and technical teams, in a celebration reflecting pride in the province’s accomplishments at the Border Governorates Olympics.
