Somali President Observes Egyptian Troops Joining AU Mission


Mogadishu: Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud witnessed the lineup of Egyptian forces participating in the African Union mission to support Somalia’s unity, security, and territorial integrity as part of Egypt’s leading role in supporting international peacekeeping efforts and strengthening the foundations of security and stability across the African continent.



According to State Information Service Egypt, the event was attended by Egypt’s Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of Defense and Military Production Abdel Meguid Saqr, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Ahmed Khalifa, and a number of senior military commanders. During the visit, a comprehensive briefing was delivered outlining the preparation and readiness measures undertaken by the participating forces, reflecting their high level of operational and combat preparedness across all branches and specialties.



The program also included the execution of several training activities and a display of models of vehicles assigned to the mission. This comes as a reaffirmation of Egypt’s long-standing position and commitment to active participation in supporting the pillars of international peace and security.
