Cairo: Egypt's Social Solidarity Foundation disbursed more than 12 million Egyptian pounds in financial aid and nearly 8 million pounds in in-kind assistance across the country's 27 governorates between January and April 2025, benefiting a total of 27,398 individuals from vulnerable families.According to State Information Service Egypt, the announcement came during a board meeting chaired by Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsy, who also serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation. The session included a review of the Foundation's key programmes and a discussion of its current and planned initiatives to improve performance and expand reach.The meeting also addressed the progress of ongoing economic empowerment projects and included the signing of a cooperation protocol with Fawry for Banking and Payment Technology to launch the My Fawry card.The card will enable beneficiaries to receive cash support more efficiently. The agreement also includes integration with the national Takaful an d Karama programme to streamline access to financial and in-kind aid, as well as microloans for small-scale projects.Notably, the Social Solidarity Foundation supports segments of society not covered by social insurance or health insurance laws. Its services include financial assistance for individuals with chronic illnesses, widows, divorced and abandoned women, and people with no or limited income. The foundation also provides urgent relief and assistive devices for persons with disabilities. It operates through 27 branches nationwide.
