Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi performed the dawn prayer on Friday at the Al-Aziz Al-Hakim Mosque in Cairo's Mokattam district, marking the official opening of the mosque, the presidency said.According to State Information Service Egypt, the ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Awqaf Osama El-Azhari, Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber, Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Maj. Gen. Walid Aref, along with senior state officials and leaders of Al-Azhar.Presidential spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawy stated that Sisi toured the mosque upon arrival, describing it as a new religious landmark and an integrated community institution providing a range of services to local residents. The complex includes two halls for events, a kindergarten for Quran memorization, a medical screening center, and a prayer hall for women.During the visit, Sisi listened to a briefing by Maj. Gen. Aref on the construction works carried out by the Armed Forces Engineering Authority. Shennawy men tioned that the project is part of a comprehensive plan led by the Ministry of Awqaf to replace, renovate, maintain, and furnish hundreds of mosques nationwide.The initiative is in line with presidential directives to continue upgrading mosque infrastructure across Egypt to ensure mosques can fully perform their role in promoting moral values, supporting human development, and strengthening national cohesion.Following the prayer, the Awqaf minister delivered a sermon marking the anniversary of Isra and Mi'raj, the Prophet Muhammad's night journey and ascension, highlighting its lessons and extending greetings to the president, the Egyptian people, and all Arab and Islamic nations.
