Cairo: The State Information Service (SIS) has released a comprehensive report detailing Egypt's extensive activities in Africa during the month of July. The report underscores Egypt's ongoing commitment to nurturing relationships with African nations through a range of bilateral and multilateral engagements, reinforcing its long-standing and pivotal role on the continent.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the report highlights that 27 Egyptian institutions, ministries, entities, and unions executed 89 activities involving 28 African countries and 24 African and international institutions focused on development across 12 fields. This robust engagement underscores the importance Egypt places on African matters and its dedication to fostering strong ties across the continent.
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi spearheaded these efforts by receiving credentials from 17 new ambassadors to Egypt. He also made an official visit to Tanzania, where he engaged in a summit with the Tanzanian president. This visit resulted in the signing of memoranda of understanding in key sectors such as transport, electricity, and renewable energy, aimed at bolstering bilateral relations.
In furtherance of strengthening bilateral relations, President El-Sisi met with Madagascar's President Michael Randrianirina. Their discussions led to the signing of agreements and memoranda of understanding in the economic, trade, and investment sectors, emphasizing mutual commitment to deepening cooperation.
Throughout July, Egyptian ministries and entities engaged in activities across 12 fields with African countries. Economic, political, and diplomatic efforts were at the forefront, followed by initiatives in agriculture, irrigation, youth and sports, health, religious affairs, judiciary, defense and security, education, and scientific research.
As part of enhancing joint African cooperation, Mohamed Nasr, Egypt's Ambassador to Austria and permanent representative to the United Nations and international organizations in Vienna, chaired the African Group's monthly meeting. This meeting marked the transition of leadership to Ghana, succeeding Egypt's term.
Egypt continued its collaboration with African nations in defense, underscoring security and counterterrorism as central aspects of its African relations. It condemned terrorist plots against Morocco and reiterated its rejection of terrorism and extremism.
Additionally, Egypt voiced support for Eritrea's national institutions and the sovereignty of regional nations. It also reaffirmed its commitment to regional and international efforts aimed at securing stability in Somalia, supporting Somali institutions, and preserving the nation's unity and sovereignty.
