Beijing: Senate Speaker Essam Farid held high-level talks in Beijing with senior Chinese leaders to strengthen Egypt-China strategic ties and parliamentary cooperation. Farid met with the Chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress and the Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Farid reaffirmed Egypt's support for the 'One China' principle and respect for China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, while stressing the importance of coordination on regional and international issues. Farid also highlighted growing trade, investment, and tourism ties, and called for continued Chinese support for Egypt's water interests, particularly regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.

The two sides discussed expanding parliamentary exchanges and implementing agreements reached by Presidents Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Xi Jinping.
