Second Edition of Agritech Forum to Focus on Smart Agriculture Initiatives

Cairo: The second edition of the annual international forum for smart green agriculture, "Agritech," is set to commence on Tuesday under the patronage of the ministers of agriculture, irrigation, planning, environment, and communication. The forum will see extensive international participation and aims to integrate youth and women, promote awareness among farmers regarding the importance of smart agriculture, and highlight innovations from emerging agricultural startups.According to State Information Service Egypt, Dr. Ali Shams el-Din, Chairman of the Organizing Committee and former President of Benha University, stated on Saturday, June 21, 2025, that there is a growing global interest in environmentally and climate-responsible practices. These practices align with international commitments to reduce emissions, as established during the COP27 climate summit in Sharm El-Sheikh and COP28 in Dubai, among other summits. Shams El-Din emphasized that the agriculture sector is a crucial area requiring advancemen t toward smart and green agriculture.He further noted that the forum will concentrate on opportunities for international cooperation, the role of global development partners, and prospects for strategic partnerships. The two-day event, scheduled for June 24 and 25, will address the significance of international cooperation, partnerships, and successful models of joint projects. Discussions will cover topics such as climate change and its effects on Egyptian agriculture, carbon emissions reduction, carbon capture initiatives, and economic opportunities and challenges.The forum will also explore food security, the impact of rapidly advancing digital technologies, and the role of scientific research and innovation. In its second edition, the annual 'Agritech' forum will particularly focus on seed production and availability, the necessary scientific and practical infrastructure, and the implementation of the national seed policy.
