Prime Minister Highlights Education as a Priority Under President El-Sisi

Accra:During a session at the Egypt Forum 2026 themed 'A Look at Today, a Vision for Tomorrow,' Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly emphasized that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has prioritized education since taking office. Significant efforts have been made to reform the educational sector to prepare children for the future.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the session was attended by key figures including the Minister of Education, Minister of Higher Education, and various educational experts and stakeholders. Madbouly highlighted that education reform in Egypt faces unique challenges, such as overcrowded classrooms and infrastructure limitations. Despite these hurdles, Egypt has expanded its universities from around 50 in 2014 to approximately 131 today, serving a population of about 110 million.

Madbouly also addressed the importance of curriculum development and the adoption of the new Baccalaureate system, which aims to provide public school students with more opportunities similar to those in private schools. He acknowledged the psychological pressures of the traditional examination system and advocated for regular curriculum reviews every three to four years.

Further, Madbouly discussed the role of education in preserving national identity, particularly the importance of Arabic language education in international schools. He raised concerns over international student admissions in Egyptian universities, emphasizing the need for transparency and the benefits of attracting international students to enhance global recognition.

The Prime Minister concluded by asserting education as a cornerstone of Egypt's soft power, crucial for fostering international ties and enhancing the country's global presence through the development of its universities.
