Accra:Egyptian Red Crescent The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) has dispatched its 298th 'Zad Al-Ezza From Egypt to Gaza' aid convoy to the Gaza Strip. This convoy, which set out on Monday, is carrying a variety of humanitarian assistance intended to support Palestinians and fulfill their basic needs, especially as winter approaches.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the convoy includes over 75,000 food parcels, tons of flour, relief and medical supplies, along with medicines and petroleum products necessary for operating hospitals and vital facilities throughout the Strip. Essential winter supplies such as 5,920 blankets, around 1,896 tents, and more than 1,510 items of clothing are also part of the aid package, aiming to alleviate the suffering of Gaza residents.
The ERC has maintained its presence along the border since the onset of the crisis, ensuring its logistics centers are prepared and focused on delivering humanitarian and relief aid to Gaza. The cumulative volume of assistance delivered has surpassed one million tons, involving participation from more than 75,000 volunteers from the organization.
Since March 2025, Israeli forces have closed crossings connecting Gaza to the outside world, following the collapse of a ceasefire agreement. This closure led to a restriction on the entry of humanitarian aid, fuel, and shelter supplies for displaced individuals. Despite challenges, aid deliveries resumed in May 2025 under a new mechanism by the Israeli authorities and a US security company, although this process faced criticism from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
Efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States have been ongoing to secure a comprehensive ceasefire and facilitate prisoner exchanges. The first phase of a ceasefire deal was reached in October 2025, with the second phase taking effect in February 2026, allowing for increased movement and aid delivery through the Rafah crossing.
