Cairo:Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met with Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Governor Hassan Abdalla to discuss priority economic issues and strategies to enhance financial and monetary stability.
According to State Information Service Egypt, this meeting was part of the ongoing coordination between the government and the central bank. Discussions included the national economic transformation program, efforts to control inflation, increase dollar inflows, and ensure sufficient foreign-exchange reserves for essential commodities.
They also reviewed significant economic indicators, highlighting that remittances from Egyptians working abroad increased by 28.1% year on year, reaching approximately $29.7 billion from January to July 2026, compared to $23.2 billion the previous year. In July alone, remittances rose 20% year on year to $4.5 billion, up from about $3.8 billion in July 2025, based on recent data from the Central Bank of Egypt.
