Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi honored a number of fallen police heroes on Saturday, 24th January 2026, by awarding them the merits of the republic and medals during the 74th Police Day celebration at the Police Academy headquarters in New Cairo.
According to State Information Service Egypt, President Sisi bestowed the Order of Merit (Class 3) on the late Major Mahmoud Ahmed Abdel Sabour Saad, with the martyr's father receiving the medal. Similarly, the late Captain Adham Ayman Hassan Mohammad was awarded the Order of Merit (Class 3), and his father accepted the honor on his behalf.
Furthermore, the Order of Merit (Class 5) was bestowed on police commissioners Omar Masry Abdel Wanis and Mohammad Fadel Ahmed el Shennawy, with their widows receiving the medals. The ceremony also saw Sisi awarding state decorations to various police officers to mark Police Day.
During the event, President Sisi granted the Second Class Order of Excellence to Colonel Ahmed el-Tohami el-Sayed Mohamed of the Central Security Sector and Colonel Mohamed Ali Sidqi Abdel Salam of the General Administration of the Presidential Guard Police. Additionally, the Third Class Order of Excellence was awarded to Captain Sherwet Mohamed Abdel Raouf Mohamed of the General Administration of Cairo International Airport Police, Captain Norhan Nagi el-Sayed Hussein of the Police Academy, and First Lieutenant Nour el-Din Emtiyaz Ishaq Kamel from the General Administration of Civil Protection.
The awards were given in recognition of the officers' service and contributions as part of the annual Police Day commemorations, which honor the role of the police force in maintaining security and public order in Egypt.
