New cairo: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi attended the celebration marking the 74th anniversary of Police Day at the Police Academy headquarters in New Cairo. This annual event, commemorated on January 25, was held on Saturday, January 24, 2026.
According to State Information Service Egypt, President Sisi was welcomed by Minister of Interior Mahmoud Tawfik upon his arrival at the Academy. A guard of honor was reviewed, and the national anthem was played as part of the ceremonial proceedings. President Sisi laid a wreath at the memorial for police martyrs and awarded the Order of the Republic to the families of several fallen officers in recognition of their sacrifices. He also presented Medals of Excellence to police officers for their dedication and exemplary service.
The celebration was attended by several prominent figures, including Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el Tayyeb, Speaker of the House of Representatives Hisham Badawi, Speaker of the Senate Essam Farid, and Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Abul Gheit. The event commenced with a Quranic recitation and featured a presentation titled 'The Story of a Safe Homeland and a Reassured People,' showcasing the valor and sacrifices of Egyptian police from the Tripartite Aggression era to the present.
A poignant segment of the ceremony honored late policeman Rami Helal, a symbol of bravery who was martyred in February 2019 during a terrorist attack. President Sisi had previously recognized Helal's family, and during the event, Helal's son expressed pride in his father's heroism.
The ceremony also spotlighted a documentary highlighting the Ministry of Interior's various units, including law enforcement, special forces, and counter-terrorism units, supported by female personnel and medical teams. The commander of the formation forces emphasized the Ministry's readiness to undertake security missions nationwide.
Filmed scenes from real-life operations across Egypt illustrated the police's preparedness to confront security challenges, honed through rigorous training under demanding conditions. These scenes demonstrated the officers' precision and resilience in safeguarding public safety, even in challenging terrains.
Following the presentation, police officers reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining high preparedness levels and pledged to continue their rigorous training to defend national security. They vowed to stand as a protective force for Egypt, ready to lay down their lives to ensure citizens' safety.
