President El-Sisi Reaffirms Egyptian Support During Meeting with Libyan Military Leader

Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, along with other high-ranking officials, including Major General Hassan Rashad, General Khaled Khalifa, and General Saddam Khalifa.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting reinforced the strong ties between Egypt and Libya, with President El-Sisi emphasizing Egypt's commitment to Libya's sovereignty, stability, unity, and territorial integrity. He highlighted the crucial role of the Libyan National Army in maintaining these principles and expressed the necessity to resist external interference while advocating for the removal of foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya.

Field Marshal Haftar conveyed his gratitude for Egypt's significant role and President El-Sisi's personal efforts in restoring stability to Libya. He acknowledged the ongoing support from Egypt since the onset of the Libyan crisis and expressed his intent to continue collaborating with President El-Sisi on Libyan and regional matters.

President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt's backing for initiatives aimed at resolving the Libyan crisis, particularly those advocating for concurrent Presidential and Parliamentary elections. He assured continued Egyptian support for the Libyan National Army and other national institutions, underscoring the historical bonds between the two nations.

The discussions also covered regional developments, including the situation in Sudan. Both parties agreed on the importance of enhancing international and regional efforts to achieve a peaceful resolution in Sudan, ensuring its stability and sovereignty. They acknowledged that Sudan's stability is intrinsically linked to the national security of Egypt and Libya.
