President El-Sisi Pledges Support for Eritrea’s Security and Stability

New Alamein:President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has reaffirmed Egypt's full support for Eritrea's security and stability, emphasizing respect for its sovereignty and territorial integrity. He rejected any violations of state sovereignty or territorial unity that contradict international law and the Constitutive Act of the African Union.

According to State Information Service Egypt, President El-Sisi made these remarks during a meeting with Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki on the sidelines of the "Alamein Africa Business Forum."

During the meeting, President El-Sisi expressed appreciation for President Afwerki's participation in the forum, which he described as an important platform for enhancing cooperation and economic integration among African countries. El-Sisi highlighted the historical ties and close political and strategic relations between Egypt and Eritrea, stressing the importance of translating these ties into tangible economic and development projects that serve the shared interests of both countries and their peoples.

The discussions also covered regional developments, particularly in the Horn of Africa. President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt's commitment to maintaining coordination and consultation with Eritrea on regional issues of mutual concern, contributing to stability in the Horn of Africa, and supporting efforts to resolve crises through peaceful means. He emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation to promote security and stability in the Red Sea.

President Afwerki expressed appreciation for the close relations and growing cooperation between Eritrea and Egypt, praising the level of political coordination and continued consultations on various regional issues. He noted the broad agreement between the two countries on respecting states' sovereignty and territorial unity and refraining from interfering in their internal affairs. Afwerki also appreciated Egypt's commitment to expanding bilateral relations and cooperation across various fields, in line with the depth of historical ties between the two nations.
