Egypt Expands National ID Services for Expats

Accra:National identity card issuance teams commenced operations on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at various Egyptian diplomatic and consular missions abroad, including those in Jordan, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi.

According to State Information Service Egypt, hundreds of Egyptians residing outside of Egypt visited these missions to issue, renew, or update their national identity cards. This initiative is part of the Foreign Ministry's efforts to address the needs of Egyptian communities abroad, in collaboration with the Civil Status Sector at the Interior Ministry.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Nader Zaki announced that the ID card issuance teams are planning to visit additional countries, such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Lebanon, France, Italy, and Greece, in the near future. These visits aim to support Egyptians living abroad and align with the outcomes of the seventh edition of the Conference of Egyptians Abroad, which took place in Cairo in early August.

Zaki encouraged Egyptians in countries where the ID issuance teams are active to promptly contact their respective Egyptian embassy or consulate. This will help them obtain information about the necessary documentation and schedule appointments, ensuring that the teams can assist as many citizens as possible.
