Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi welcomed General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, President of the Sovereign Council of the Republic of Sudan, at Cairo International Airport today. The leaders proceeded to Al-Ittihadiya Palace, where they were greeted with an official reception ceremony, complete with the playing of national anthems.
According to African Press Organization, the Presidential Spokesman, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, reported that the two leaders held a closed-door meeting followed by an expanded session with their respective delegations. The discussions centered on strengthening bilateral cooperation and Egypt's active role in Sudan's reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts following the devastation caused by recent conflicts. The leaders also examined the progress of joint projects in key areas like electrical interconnection, railways, trade, and cultural and scientific exchange. Additional focus was placed on collaborations in health, agriculture, industry, and mining, aiming to foster integration and harness the potential of both nations and their peoples.
The dialogue further addressed the latest developments on the ground in Sudan, particularly the advancements made by the Sudanese Armed Forces in regaining control of Khartoum. Both leaders acknowledged the importance of bolstering efforts to provide necessary support and aid to Sudanese citizens in conflict-affected regions.
