Egypt: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, Minister of Civil Aviation Dr. Sameh El-Hefny, and President's Advisor for Financial Affairs Lieutenant General Ahmed El-Shazly.
According to African Press Organization, the meeting was centered around the ongoing development of Egypt's civil aviation system. Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, the Spokesman for the Presidency, reported that the Minister of Civil Aviation detailed plans for modernizing airport infrastructure, increasing capacity, and enhancing passenger services. These efforts align with Egypt's broader development goals and aim to position the country advantageously on the global tourism and travel stage. President El-Sisi stressed the need for continuous development within the civil aviation system, emphasizing infrastructure modernization, service efficiency, and adherence to top safety and security standards. The President also highlighted the importance of involving the private sector in the management and operation of Egyptian airports.
The meeting further reviewed the strategic plans and progress for Terminal Building No. (4) at Cairo International Airport. Dr. El-Hefny explained that this project aims to establish a new passenger terminal with a capacity of approximately 40 million passengers annually. This expansion is expected to significantly enhance Cairo Airport's capacity and support Egypt's aim to become a major regional hub for aviation, transportation, and logistics.
Dr. El-Hefny also highlighted that the new terminal will incorporate cutting-edge global concepts in airport design and operation, including the use of Artificial Intelligence technologies and digital transformation. The project will focus on creating a smart and sustainable operational system to enhance passenger service quality, improve operational efficiency, and meet high environmental sustainability standards.
President El-Sisi directed that the development of the new terminal should adhere to the highest international standards in design, technology, sustainability, and operational efficiency, aiming to make it an exemplary model for new airports worldwide. He also called for the enhancement of strategic partnerships to attract foreign direct investments in the civil aviation sector by establishing integrated investment zones around Egyptian airports.
Additionally, President El-Sisi emphasized the importance of promptly addressing any complaints regarding service quality at airports to improve the travel experience and bolster passenger confidence.
