Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a meeting at Al-Ittihadiya Palace with the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) Chairman, Mr. Manfredi Lefebvre d'Ovidio, and a delegation from the Council. The gathering also included notable attendees such as Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Mr. Sherif Fathy, WTTC President and CEO Ms. Gloria Guevara, and other prominent figures from the tourism sector.
According to State Information Service Egypt, President El-Sisi welcomed the delegation, emphasizing the importance of enhancing cooperation with the WTTC to promote tourism growth and ensure sustainability. The WTTC Chairman expressed the Council's interest in organizing the significant international event 'Global Tourism Leaders' Leadership Journey' in Egypt. This event, which will feature 270 top executives and representatives from global travel and tourism companies, is planned to take place on a cruise through the Suez Canal and several Egyptian cities and ports.
Mr. Lefebvre d'Ovidio highlighted that hosting this event in Egypt would signal strong confidence in the country's tourism assets, stability, and developmental efforts within the sector. He emphasized Egypt's success in attracting tourists and investments, reinforcing its status as a preferred tourism destination.
The WTTC delegation expressed their eagerness to deepen ties with the Egyptian government in tourism and investment sectors. Special Presidential Envoy Mr. Nick Adams relayed greetings from U.S. President Donald Trump to President El-Sisi, affirming the U.S.'s interest in boosting tourism exchanges with Egypt.
President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt's commitment to advancing the tourism sector, with the aim of welcoming 30 million tourists annually. He noted that Egypt's selection to host the Council's event underscores international confidence in its tourism potential and expressed readiness to support more WTTC events.
The President underscored the critical importance of maintaining stability and security, a sentiment echoed by the delegation who praised his efforts towards regional stability.
