Positive Economic Indicators Enhance Egypt’s Credit Ratings

Cairo:The Cabinet's Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) released a series of infographics on Thursday, October 22, 2026, showcasing key positive indicators of the Egyptian economy.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the IDSC emphasized Egypt's ability to withstand regional challenges, citing assessments of sovereign credit ratings by major international agencies. Despite regional volatility affecting energy markets, international trade, and global financing conditions, Egypt's macroeconomic indicators are showing increased flexibility to absorb external shocks.

The developments have resulted in higher growth rates, improved public finance balances, and record-high foreign exchange reserves. In the 2025/2026 fiscal year, Egypt achieved its highest economic growth rate in three years at 5.1%, compared to 4.4% in FY 2024/2025. Additionally, unemployment decreased to 5.8% in Q2 2026 from 6.1% the previous year, and the overall budget deficit narrowed to 5.8% of GDP.

The report further highlighted a sharp decline in annual urban inflation to 13.3% in FY 2025/2026, down from 20.4% the previous fiscal year, alongside net international reserves reaching a record $57.3 billion in September 2026, compared to $49.5 billion in September 2025.
