PM Urges Road Upgrades, Alternative Routes to Ease Cairo Traffic

Cairo: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli asserted the importance of road development plans and creating alternative routes within Cairo to alleviate traffic congestion and improve traffic flow across the capital. These efforts are a key part of the state's broader strategy to revitalize Historic Cairo and enhance connectivity between its key districts.

According to State Information Service Egypt, this statement was made during Prime Minister Madbouly's inspection tour of the Historic Cairo revitalization project, during which he reviewed several ongoing road development works across the governorate. During the visit, Madbouli reviewed the road development works around Sayyida Nafisa Mosque.

Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber briefed the Prime Minister on the progress, highlighting improvements to the roads leading to the mosque and the surrounding area, expansion of green spaces, upgrades to infrastructure, and enhancements to the overall aesthetic features of the neighborhood. These measures form part of a comprehensive plan to develop the Sayyida Nafisa area and upgrade the Ahl Al-Bayt route, which connects numerous historically significant Islamic landmarks in the capital.

Madbouli also inspected the redeveloped Salah Salem road, designed to serve as an alternative route to the Sayyida Aisha Bridge. Saber explained the stages of the project's implementation and noted that the upgraded route will improve connectivity between several tourist and historical sites. Preparations are underway to fully dismantle the Sayyida Aisha Bridge by the end of December, following the completion of the alternative route, he said.
