PM Stresses Swift Settlement of Dues Owed to NUCA

Cairo: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly described on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, projects implemented by the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) as a key pillar of Egypt’s planned urban expansion strategy and a major driver for economic growth and job creation.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouly’s remarks came during a meeting held Tuesday evening to review the status of outstanding dues owed to the NUCA by ministries and government entities. The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk, Housing Minister Randa El-Menshawy, Planning and Economic Development Minister Ahmed Rostom, Deputy Housing Minister for Urban Communities Walid Abbas, and officials from relevant ministries and authorities.

The prime minister stressed that the meeting aimed to review in detail the status of payments owed to the authority by several ministries and government bodies and underline the need to expedite settlement procedures, given the priority attached by the Egyptian state to the authority and its developmental role in urban expansion.

Cabinet Spokesman Mohamed El-Homsany said the meeting included a comprehensive review of the executive status of projects implemented by the authority on behalf of other entities, their costs, amounts already paid, and remaining dues. He added that participants agreed on mechanisms for settling overdue payments or conducting the necessary financial offsets in a way that would help secure the funding needed for the authority to continue implementing assigned projects.

Homsany noted that the meeting also extensively reviewed the overall financial position of the NUCA, including its financial performance, strategic vision, mechanisms for maximizing revenues, as well as the financing status of ongoing projects and future investment plans.
