Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced that the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) has become an integrated Egyptian platform for industry and logistics services, serving as a key pillar of the nation's economic development strategy.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouly emphasized the exceptional advantages of the SCZONE, including its strategic geographic location, integrated ports and industrial areas, and advanced infrastructure. These factors enable the zone to accommodate a wide range of investments. During an expanded tour of the Sokhna Integrated Industrial Zone, affiliated with the General Authority for the SCZONE, Madbouly inaugurated nine new industrial projects totaling investments of up to $84.5 million.
Accompanying the Prime Minister were Health and Population Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Labour Minister Hassan Raddad, and Planning and Economic Development Minister Ahmed Rostom. They were received by Industry Minister Khaled Hashem, Suez Governor Hany Rashad, and Chairman of the General Authority for the SCZONE Mostafa Sheikhoun, along with authority officials, industrial developers, and executives of the companies implementing the projects.
The Prime Minister highlighted that the SCZONE represents a successful model of integration between industry, trade, and logistics services. It has attracted high-quality investments across various sectors, localized strategic industries, and strengthened Egypt's production and export capabilities, bolstering the country's position as a regional hub for manufacturing and access to global markets.
Madbouly added that the inauguration of new industrial projects in the zone reflects growing investor confidence in Egypt's investment climate and the government's success in providing an attractive business environment. This is based on infrastructure, streamlined procedures, and the ability to link local production with supply chains and international markets.
Chairman Sheikhoun stated that the inaugurations demonstrate the continued development of the industrial base in the SCZONE and the authority's success in attracting diverse industrial investments, strengthening the zone's competitiveness as an integrated center for production, manufacturing, and logistics services. The nine new projects, with total investments of approximately $4.5 million, are expected to create about 2,000 jobs. The projects span sectors such as building materials, furniture, textiles, chemical and mining industries, engineering, electrical industries, and medical industries and equipment.
Sheikhoun further noted that the projects include new ventures, expansions of existing factories, and initial operating phases of projects planned for further expansion. This diversity reflects the authority's strategy to build an integrated industrial system, supporting deeper local manufacturing, creating jobs, and enhancing integration between industrial zones and affiliated ports, reinforcing SCZONE's position as a global investment destination for industry and logistics services.
