Cairo: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly underscored the important role played by the Supreme Medical Committee and Emergency Response Committee, as well as their cooperation and coordination with numerous civil society organizations and relevant authorities in organizing medical convoys across Egypt's governorates.According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouly praised the efforts being made in this regard to provide free medical services and healthcare to various areas and villages nationwide. The prime minister's remarks came as he reviewed the results of a comprehensive medical convoy held in Fayyoum Governorate and organized by the Supreme Medical Committee and Emergency Response Committee at the Cabinet, in cooperation and coordination with Dhay El-Kheir Foundation for Humanitarian Work.The convoy was held on September 9-10 in Fanous Village, Tamia District, as part of the committee's efforts to provide free medical services to citizens in the most underserved villages and areas in partnership with civil society organizations. Head of the Supreme Medical Committee and Emergency Response Committee Naglaa Abdel Moneim said the convoy offered services in several medical specialties, including ophthalmology. Citizens received free examinations and treatment, underwent the necessary medical tests, and were provided with medicines and eyeglasses. Cases requiring surgical intervention were referred for further procedures.She noted that the two-day convoy examined a total of 1,582 citizens, including 509 ophthalmology cases. A total of 180 eyeglasses were provided to eligible citizens, while 75 cases were identified as requiring eye surgery. The comprehensive clinics examined 1,073 cases, with 30 cases identified as requiring surgical procedures. All prescribed medications were also dispensed to the patients examined.The meeting discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation during the coming period, expand medical convoys and respond to medical appeals, with the aim of increasing citizen satisfaction and extending free medical services to the largest possible number of people, particularly in the most underserved areas and villages. During the meeting, Fayyoum Governor Mohamed Hany Ghoneim praised the committee's efforts to support citizens and provide free medical services, commending the cooperation between the committee and civil society organizations in organizing medical convoys and bringing healthcare services to underserved communities.
