Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly emphasized the necessity of advancing the international student system to fortify cultural and scientific exchanges between Egypt and other nations, thereby augmenting Egypt's soft power and attracting foreign currency.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouly conveyed these views during a meeting that took place on Monday, August 24, 2026, at the government headquarters in New Alamein City. The meeting was convened to assess the progress in developing the international student system.

The session was attended by key government officials, including Abdel Aziz Konsowa, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Culture, Wael El Naggar, the Assistant Foreign Minister for Cultural Relations, Ghada Abd Elbary, Head of the Cultural Affairs and Missions Sector at the Ministry of Higher Education, and Ayman Farid, the Assistant Minister of Higher Education for Cultural Relations.

Prime Minister Madbouly reiterated the need for all involved authorities to work collaboratively to offer additional facilities and incentives for international students. This includes simplifying visa processes for students wishing to study in Egypt under the "Study in Egypt" initiative, along with easing university admission procedures. The overarching goal is to establish Egypt as a leading regional and global center for higher education and scientific research.
