PM Leads Ministerial Committee Meeting Focused on Boosting Tourism

Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli chaired a meeting of the Ministerial Committee on Tourism at the government headquarters, emphasizing the importance of the tourism sector in achieving Egypt's economic and development objectives.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouli highlighted the state's commitment to supporting and enhancing the tourism sector, stressing the significance of developing its components. He discussed incentives and facilitation measures aimed at advancing the industry by leveraging Egypt's rich assets to boost tourist arrivals and revenues across the country's destinations. The prime minister also reviewed efforts to encourage private-sector expansion in tourism infrastructure, focusing on the development of new hotels and accommodation units to accommodate the expected increase in tourist flows.

Madbouli underscored initiatives to restore and preserve historical and archaeological sites nationwide, with a particular focus on Historic Cairo and areas surrounding the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). Efforts to enhance the tourist experience, including improved coordination among relevant authorities and the expansion of the electronic visa system at airports, were highlighted as well.

The meeting included several key officials: Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sweilam, Minister of Local Development Manal Awad, acting Minister of Environment, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy, and Minister of Culture Ahmed Fouad Hannu. Additionally, Deputy Minister of Health and Population Amr Qandil, Deputy Minister of Transport Magid Metwally, Director of the Military Museums Department, and Assistant Interior Minister for Tourism and Antiquities Police Ibrahim Malek were present, alongside other notable figures such as Assistant Foreign Minister for Financial and Administrative Affairs Ambassador Yasser Reda and Chairman of the Egyptian Tourism Federation Hossam El-Shaer.

The delegation also featured First Deputy Head of the New Urban Communities Authority and Assistant Housing Minister Walid Abbas, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation Amani Metwally, CEO of the General Authority for Tourism Development Moustafa Mounir, and Senior Assistant Finance Minister for Economic Affairs Sherine El-Sharqawy, along with officials from other relevant ministries and authorities.
