PM Inspects “Energos Eskimo” LNG Vessel at Ain Sokhna Port

Ain Sokhna: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli on Saturday inspected the offshore Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) support vessel "Energos Eskimo" at Ain Sokhna Port, as part of the state's efforts to ensure securing natural gas supplies during the summer season. During his tour, the premier was accompanied by Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi and officials of the petroleum sector. Madbouli emphasized that such strategic projects underscore the state's commitment to securing domestic natural gas supplies and enhancing its capacity to meet peak summer demand.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouli was briefed on the ongoing technical operations carried out by Petrojet oil and gas company to operate the vessel and relocate it to a berth at Sumed Port in Sokhna. The vessel has the capacity to handle 750 million cubic feet of gas per day. A berth has been prepared at Sumed Port to receive the vessel, Badawi said, affirming that petroleum teams are working tirelessly and conducting regular field inspections to ensure the swift completion of all technical preparations.

He highlighted proactive steps adopted by the ministry since last year to secure gas supplies and diversify sources in response to global energy challenges. 'A fourth LNG vessel is scheduled to arrive in Damietta in August, on the Mediterranean coast, ensuring stable and diversified energy supplies amid global uncertainties,' the minister added.
