PM, Finance Minister Discuss Progress of IMF Review Process

Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli underscored the importance of maintaining a balanced reform path that takes into account social dimensions, while continuing measures to support growth, stimulate the private sector, and enhance the efficiency of public spending. Madbouli made these remarks during a meeting with Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk to follow up on the latest developments in cooperation between Egypt and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), following the swearing-in of new ministers before President Abdel Fattah El Sisi as part of the recent cabinet reshuffle.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting was held as part of efforts to ensure continued coordination with international partners and to support the state’s drive to achieve economic stability and advance the reform process. During the meeting, the finance minister reviewed the latest developments in the ongoing review process and the status of implementing commitments agreed upon under the cooperation program with the IMF.

Kouchouk discussed key macroeconomic indicators, particularly public finance developments, debt management, foreign currency inflows, and efforts to improve the investment climate. He highlighted the main outcomes of technical consultations with the IMF mission and the status of measures implemented in recent months, noting continued work to broaden the tax base, regulate public finances, and improve financial risk management in a way that supports sustainable economic stability.

Madbouli stressed the importance of maintaining close coordination among the relevant bodies and completing the required steps in the coming phase to enhance the confidence of international institutions and investors and support the country’s economic and development priorities.
