PM Calls for Strategic Monitoring of Commodity Reserves to Stabilize Market Prices

Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Monday, May 26, 2025, emphasized the need for ongoing monitoring of strategic reserves of essential commodities to maintain adequate stock levels and stabilize market prices. During a meeting with ministers and senior officials, Madbouly highlighted the critical need for securing long-term supplies of basic goods.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting assessed efforts to increase storage capacity through initiatives such as the Future of Egypt for Sustainable Development Authority's grain silos, which have a target storage capacity of up to 500,000 tons. Cabinet spokesperson Mohamed El-Homsany revealed that the discussion also covered strategies to replace imports with locally grown strategic crops, notably wheat, in an effort to bolster food security and decrease reliance on global markets.
