PM: Automotive, Clean Energy Sectors Among Egypt’s Top Priorities

Cairo: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly said on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, Egypt considers the automotive and clean and renewable energy sectors government priorities, expressing hope that Japan's Toyota Tsusho Group will expand its presence and investments in the Egyptian market.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouly highlighted the longstanding strategic partnership between Egypt and Japan and the government's support for increased investment while speaking with Toyota Tsusho Corporation President and CEO Toshimitsu Imai.

Industry Minister Khaled Hashim stated that Egypt aims to become a regional hub for vehicle assembly and manufacturing. This goal is set to be achieved through incentives and greater localization, while leveraging the country's trade agreements, strategic location, and infrastructure to boost exports.

Toshimitsu Imai mentioned that Toyota Tsusho has a strong presence in Egypt across automotive, green infrastructure, and energy. Toyota and Lexus vehicle sales reached approximately 9,600 in 2025, with plans to assemble a new Toyota model locally. The group also holds investments in power generation and wind energy projects.
