Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced that the funding allocated to the completed projects under the presidential 'Hayah Karima' (Decent Life) initiative has surpassed EGP 450 billion, benefiting approximately 20 million citizens across 1,450 villages. He shared these details during a press conference following the inspection of service and development projects in Gharbia Governorate, underscoring the initiative's substantial impact.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the initiative is hailed by Madbouly as "Egypt's project of the 21st century," reflecting extensive efforts toward its implementation. The Prime Minister revealed that Gharbia Governorate is finalizing the completion of all 'Hayah Karima' projects, with some projects already operational. He noted that the initiative's first phase is fully completed in Gharbia, with other governorates to follow suit in the coming weeks.
Madbouly highlighted the comprehensive nature of the initiative, extending beyond individual village development to significantly improving services and infrastructure. He cited the notable increase in wastewater coverage in Gharbia from 26% in 2014 to 77% after the initiative's first phase. The Prime Minister also emphasized that development efforts include healthcare expansions, with new health units and medical centers, and the construction of water treatment plants projected to meet needs through 2050.
The Prime Minister explained that modern services, such as natural gas networks and fiber-optic lines, have been introduced to villages, marking genuine development. He acknowledged the challenges faced, including a lack of initial data on existing village services and land allocation issues, which required extensive collaboration across various sectors.
Madbouly stated that the government aims to improve the quality of life for over 60 million citizens through the initiative's three phases. He noted the initiative's role in reducing unemployment rates and emphasized ongoing focus on sanitation, water quality, and healthcare projects. Highlighting the 'Ras El Hekma' medical project and other developments in Matrouh Governorate, he stressed the importance of tourism for economic growth, supported by infrastructure projects such as high-speed railways.
The Prime Minister reiterated the government's commitment to safeguarding state rights and ensuring development benefits for local populations. He urged citizens to recognize the significant strides made over the past 12 years, despite external challenges, and outlined plans for economic transformation over the next three years. Madbouly affirmed Egypt's capacity to meet future energy needs, thanks to strategic projects initiated since 2014.
