Cairo: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly emphasized the government's prioritization of securing Egypt's energy needs, highlighting the necessity of maintaining a sustainable supply of petroleum products and natural gas across various sectors. He stressed the importance of coordination among relevant authorities and the implementation of plans to boost domestic production and expedite the development of new energy discoveries.

According to State Information Service Egypt, during a meeting with the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, Madbouly focused on enhancing energy security to support Egypt's efforts to optimally utilize its resources and strengthen its position as a regional energy trading hub. The meeting, held on September 1, 2026, addressed several ministry-related matters.

Badawi presented the ministry's strategy to secure the country's energy market, outlining measures to ensure consistent energy supplies and operational alternatives. He emphasized the significance of monitoring the supply system and maintaining readiness to handle any developments, ensuring stability in energy supplies for various sectors.

Additionally, Badawi announced the ahead-of-schedule production at the Fayoum-4 well in the West Nile Delta, which is set to contribute approximately 80 million standard cubic feet per day of natural gas. This development, facilitated by utilizing existing offshore infrastructure, underscores the ministry's strategy to integrate exploration, development, and production activities.

The Petroleum Minister also discussed the expansion of Egyptian petroleum-sector companies in the region. He highlighted a new contract signed by Petrojet to supply natural gas to Jordan's Al-Muwaqqar Development and Industrial Area, valued at around $22.7 million. This project aligns with the ministry's strategy to broaden the operations of Egyptian companies beyond the domestic market and leverage Egyptian expertise in regional and international energy projects.

Badawi further reviewed strategic oil and natural gas projects being executed in collaboration with major international companies, focusing on exploration and development drilling in the Mediterranean to enhance Egypt's oil and natural gas production capabilities.
