Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Governor Hassan Abdalla met to discuss critical economic reforms and the status of foreign exchange reserves. The government reiterated its commitment to maintaining secure levels of foreign exchange reserves to ensure the availability of strategic commodities. This objective is being pursued through ongoing coordination with the Central Bank to enhance strategic inventories.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting took place on Sunday, September 20, 2026, focusing on priority economic issues and mechanisms for monetary stability. The discussions included a review of future economic reform plans, such as a cooperative national economic transition program, current economic performance, efforts to reduce inflation, and strategies for increasing dollar liquidity.
Central Bank Governor Hassan Abdalla also emphasized his role in leading Egypt's delegation at the 48th Annual Meetings of the Association of African Central Banks held in Nairobi. This participation also included the 14th Governors' Council Meeting of the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System and a high-level conference on incorporating artificial intelligence in central banking practices.
