Nairobi: Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Governor Hassan Abdalla led Egypt's delegation to the 48th Annual Meetings of the Association of African Central Banks (AACB), hosted by the Central Bank of Kenya in Nairobi from September 13 to 18.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meetings were attended by the governors of 34 central banks out of the association's 41 member institutions, representing 53 African countries. Abdalla participated in several high-level meetings, including the annual Governors' Symposium, which focused on 'monetary integration and fiscal sovereignty in Africa: Strategic insights into reducing the continent's dependence on international institutions.'

Abdalla also participated in the annual meeting of the Board of Governors on September 18, where activities of the association during the current year and its work program for the coming year were reviewed and decisions were taken.

The Board of Governors approved the composition of the association's bureau for the coming year, with Egypt joining the bureau as deputy chair of the North Africa region, paving the way for Egypt to assume the region's chairmanship in 2028.
