Cairo:Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi asserted that increasing domestic production and securing supplies of petroleum products are key priorities during a meeting with the executive council of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC).
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting, attended by the EGPC's executive council chaired by CEO Salah Abdel Karim and the vice presidents, was part of efforts to monitor plans for increasing production and securing supplies for the domestic market.
The discussion included reviewing production, exploration, and prospecting plans in cooperation with investment partners, as well as assessing project implementation rates. The status of petroleum product supplies, crude oil refining operations, and the efficiency of the product handling and distribution system were examined to ensure the continuous provision of domestic market needs and regular supplies to various sectors.
Minister Badawi highlighted the pivotal role of the EGPC in managing the system efficiently through sector integration, continuous performance monitoring, and maximizing the use of existing production and refining capacities. He emphasized the need for accelerating project implementation, improving operational efficiency, and maximizing returns from available assets to support increased production and better service efficiency for citizens.
Furthermore, Badawi stressed the importance of improving EGPC's performance by developing working mechanisms, continuously reviewing performance indicators, and addressing any challenges that could hinder the implementation of its plans.
