Cairo: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi announced the successful securing of natural gas supplies during peak electricity demand for the second consecutive year. Badawi inspected the National Natural Gas Grid Control Center at the Egyptian Natural Gas Company (GASCO) to review the flow of gas to consumer sectors, including power plants and industrial facilities. The visit aimed to assess the readiness of the national gas grid to meet consumption needs during the peak summer period.

According to State Information Service Egypt, GASCO Chairman Mohamed Marzouq provided a presentation on the gas grid's operations and the status of natural gas supplies. Marzouq emphasized the efficiency of the grid's control systems in managing gas flows and maintaining regular supplies, following plans to address high consumption rates and any potential emergencies. Minister Badawi commended the petroleum sector workers for their efforts in ensuring the domestic market's needs for natural gas and petroleum products.

Badawi noted the importance of proactive planning and continuous coordination between the Ministries of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and Electricity and Renewable Energy. These efforts enabled the authorities to handle unprecedented energy demand increases, ensuring the supplies needed to meet record electricity loads exceeding 40,000 megawatts during the summer. He attributed the successful management of demand to advance planning and readiness, allowing for a swift response to changes or emergencies.

The minister affirmed the ministry's commitment to securing natural gas supplies through the summer by implementing real-time monitoring of production, consumption rates, and supply flows. Efforts are ongoing to further strengthen the national gas grid's readiness to respond to developments, ensuring sustainable gas supplies nationwide.
