Cairo: The Ministries of Agriculture and Land Reclamation and Petroleum and Mineral Resources have firmly rejected a report from a news website alleging that the allocations of subsidized fertilizers provided to the Ministry of Agriculture by producing companies would face cuts starting in August.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the ministries released a joint statement labeling the report as entirely false, clarifying that no decisions or actions have been taken by the relevant authorities that would lead to such reductions.

The statement emphasized that the annual allocation for the subsidized fertilizer system remains constant at 2.4 million tons, with no plans for adjustments or reductions. The ministries confirmed that no discussions have taken place within the Fertilizer Coordination Committee regarding changes to the allocations.

It was further assured that the shipment and supply programs for subsidized fertilizers will proceed as per the established schedules, ensuring timely delivery to farmers across all governorates. The ministries are committed to coordinating with fertilizer-producing companies to tackle any challenges, ensuring continuous supply at the current levels through 2026.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources reiterated its commitment to securing the natural gas needs of fertilizer plants, facilitating their regular operation and production. Stable gas supplies during 2025 and 2026 have positively impacted Egypt's fertilizer industry, enhancing its capacity to meet both domestic and export demands.

The statement highlighted that fertilizer companies continue to receive the required natural gas quantities and remain dedicated to supplying the Ministry of Agriculture's designated fertilizer quantities for the subsidy system, with no alteration in the selling price to farmers.

Reaffirming their position, the two ministries stated that the subsidized fertilizer system will persist without any changes to the annual allocations or pricing for farmers. They assured that farmers' fertilizer needs are under continuous monitoring and coordination, with measures in place to ensure consistent supply and availability throughout all governorates.

The ministries urged media outlets to verify information through official sources before publishing news on subsidized fertilizer allocations or gas supplies to fertilizer plants, to prevent the spread of misinformation that could disrupt the market or cause unnecessary concern among farmers.
