Norwegian Architect Craig Dykers Highlights Inspiration from Egyptian Civilization

Alexandria:Norwegian architect Craig Dykers, known for his work with the architectural firm Snøhetta, emphasized that Egyptian civilization provides a continuous source of inspiration due to its rich historical and cultural layers. He noted that Alexandria exemplifies this diversity through its blend of European, African, Arab, and Pharaonic influences, showcasing the city as a hub of cultural interaction over the ages.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Dykers made these remarks during the 'Rethinking Rebuilding' symposium at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. He highlighted the library's role as a significant cultural and civilizational project, designed to foster dialogue and peaceful coexistence among people from various backgrounds. The library's inclusive nature facilitates the exchange of knowledge and human connections, which he believes are crucial in today's challenging global environment.

Dykers also discussed the broader role of architecture in society, asserting that it extends beyond building structures to shaping human experiences and social interactions. He expressed that spaces like Bibliotheca Alexandrina are essential for developing identities and exploring humanity, contributing to a vision of a better future through collaborative efforts.
