New Urban Communities Authority Intensifies Measures to Tackle Heavy Rainfall

Cairo: The New Urban Communities Authority has ramped up its efforts to address the challenges posed by heavy rainfall, implementing a comprehensive array of measures to mitigate the impact of adverse weather conditions.

According to State Information Service Egypt, these efforts involve the clearing of rainwater drains, pumping out accumulated water, deploying necessary equipment, and conducting inspections of sewage stations and lifting pumps to ensure their readiness and operational efficiency. This initiative aligns with directives from Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Randa el Menshawy, who has emphasized the importance of monitoring weather conditions around the clock and taking proactive measures to manage weather fluctuations effectively.

The minister has been furnished with a detailed report highlighting the endeavors of the new cities authorities in confronting weather changes. In response to heavy rains, maximum readiness was declared in several areas, including 6th of October, Hadayek October, 10th of Ramadan, El Shorouk, and New Obour. Emergency teams and equipment have been deployed to clear water, maintain traffic flow, and ensure public safety.

Continuous monitoring, drainage operations, and infrastructure assessments have been conducted as part of these efforts. Additionally, the Housing Ministry has urged citizens to adhere to safety guidelines and has provided a hotline (15100) for emergencies.
