Navy Leaders Discuss Bilateral Naval Cooperation in Alexandria


Alexandria: Commander of the Egyptian Naval Forces Vice Admiral Mahmoud Adly Fawzy welcomed Paul Owuor Otieno, Commander of the Kenyan Navy, along with his delegation during an official visit to the Egyptian Navy in Alexandria. The visit, which commenced on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, spanned several days and aimed at fortifying military cooperation between Egypt and Kenya to enhance maritime security and stability in the region.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the two naval commanders engaged in bilateral discussions covering a range of issues and topics of shared interest. The meeting underscored the dedication of the Armed Forces to bolster ties with friendly and allied nations.

During the visit, the Kenyan delegation toured the Naval Academy to gain insights into the student preparation and training system, which aligns with contemporary educational practices. They also examined several newly commissioned naval units to understand the combat capabilities and advanced weapon systems utilized by
the Egyptian Naval Forces. Additionally, a tour of the Alexandria Shipyard was conducted to explore the shipyard’s capabilities in producing and constructing naval vessels.

This visit exemplifies the Armed Forces’ commitment to enhancing military cooperation with sisterly and friendly countries, furthering collective efforts to ensure regional maritime security.
